Music is a powerful influence in the lives of youth, especially in under-resourced communities. It offers an escape an outlet for expression, creativity, and identity. Genres like Hip-Hop, Rap, Trap, and Drill have exploded across the airwaves, giving voice to the struggles of many. Yet, the messages often glorify violence, drugs, and hypersexuality, contributing to the very issues they were born from poverty, addiction, teen pregnancy, and crime. This cycle of negative influence has led to rising incarceration rates and senseless violence among our youth.
At Cross Culture, we believe it's time for change. We’re here to help educate young and old people to reclaim the mic by educating them on the powers that be to create and promote positive, transformative music that uplifts rather than destroys. Together, we can rewrite the soundtrack of this generation.

I recently sat under Deandre Burns during the MAWL cultural training organized by the leadership of Flatline Church. Our brother was amazing! DeAndre’s knowledge of the “rap” culture makes him an ideal teacher to help learners understand how to best bring the gospel to those in that environment. Two thumbs up!

“I’ve been learning from Deandre about the origin of hip-hop, how it began, how it changed over time, and the powerful impact it continues to have on today’s generation.
Coming from the culture myself and being shaped by it, I thought I understood its depth. Yet even after giving my life to Christ at 26, I realized through Deandre’s teaching that there was so much I didn’t know. The insight and truth he shares are eye-opening and transformational.
His program offers information that would benefit anyone living in our nation today.”
